Saturday 30 July 2022

Please see below some of the pictures taken by Alan Britcher during the Branch's day trip to York.

First drink at the York Tap, York Railway Station - John, Dave, Baz, Chris, and Ian collectively recovering from letting the train take the strain.

Although we all met briefly at the York Tap at the start of the day we split up and never reassembled until the Ackhorne after which the two main groups again went in diverse directions.

The day was fairly uneventful except we mistakenly decided to visit when York Races were on which meant that the city centre pubs were heaving until the flag dropped on the first race.

One group of us visited the Fox, the Volunteer Arms, the Ackhorne, the Golden Ball, the Swan and the Slip Inn but I cannot report on the destinations of any of the the others. Only one complaint about a beer in the Fox...possibly nothing wrong with the beer, it just didn't tickle the imbiber's tastebuds - the second pint was well received.

I've had no negative reports so can only assume everybody enjoyed themselves.
